PostSubject: Review TMax 08   Review TMax 08 EmptyTue May 26, 2009 7:01 pm

I have done over 17,500k's on the TMax 08 and just can't get enough riding it, I know its a taller seat and that did worry me at first as I felt like a pimple on a pumpkin but as anything once you settle in and get use to the way a bike handles I have no problems now.

The wind noise I agree more so than the X9 but now that Laminar have the lip for it which I have fitted .. its prefect.. I did a quick test for the boss as well with it on and off (I have bolted the lip on as I do not trust little sticky things) she said that there is a huge difference with the lip on and off she can now talk to me.. gawd I am so stupid at time.... anways she is happy and if your married you know thats always a good thing Review TMax 08 Smile.

I love the bike, I love the service I get from the Yamaha dealers and yes if I could get the same service I would still be riding a X9.. the running cost so far are way cheaper that the X9, I still have the get the belt changed,. Malossi belt which I already have, is a little cheaper than Yamaha's.

I have bought the J.Costa variator which I will have fitted with the new belt when the 20,000 service is due. The only reason I bought all the new mods was of the reaction from the German TMax Group, they are over the moon with the J.Costa where as the Malossi and the Polini were given a thumbs down.

The J.Costa has also been fitted in the US and as the TMax group say it smooths out the roughness at lower speeds, (now this is funny as I have no problems though I did at first few weeks, I guess as I use it all day everyday and have complete control over the throttle now),

There is better fuel consumption as well, which is a good thing, but the acceleration at the lower end blows everyone away .. it does nothing for the top end .. but that doesn't bother me as we are only allowed 110k's here so I'll let you know how it goes once fitted.

With all the tax concessions in Australia at the moment for small business I can claim all the mods, I only wish there was a new bike out that I fancied as there is also a 50% claim in tax on any new vehicle .. until the 31st of Dec.. that would save me around 6,000aust.. just my luck anything new comes out next year.. ahha well can't have it all..

Good review George and I'm glad you've found a decent dealer.

Thanks, I can't speak anymore highly for Five Star, they give me the service that I believe that JT's used to give..

A loaner bike would be waiting for engine warm tank full and ready to go.. if it was quite I could go out and pick what ever bike I want, you have no idea how much fun that is.. the whole range of Yamahas *Magic*
