This looks a nice little ride for just over £1500 new.

There is a dealer in Brighton carving themselves a great reputation and improving the status of Chinese bikes as a result.

Simple technology, cheap way to get started into proper biking.

Looks OK except for the plank of a sear and too many spokes to clean.

The failings I can see are lack of fork gaiters, exposed chain, lack of centre stand and lack of a rear carrier.

Other than that it looks like the makings of a modern MZ substitute.

Fork gaiters will be easy to fit, the chain can be replaced with a decent spec O-ring one, maybe they will bring out a rear carrier as an extra and if not , make one, and if the bike is light enough the lack of a centre stand isn't a deal breaker.

One of the best MZ 125's was the RT model. They can still be bought with low miles and they are comfortable.

Now that does look nice.

Apparently it's powered by an air-cooled, four-stroke single good for a claimed 75mph
and 100mpg. Can't be bad!

Shame I'm such a lardy git

I don't know why the big 4 manufacturers are deciding not to import their 'basic' 3rd world countries bikes that they make already, into this country.
I'm sure a bike like that will serve certain people well.
No dealer servicing being required is a major plus these days.
Honda and co. must be able to design a sealed engine requiring no oil changing, spark plugs already last forever.
Put in brake pads with much more meat on them. Full chain guards or shaft drive.
Back to that bike, It has a carb, and air cooling, simple, you can cross off any water leaks, thermostat fialures, hoses, fans, fuel injector, ECU, temp gauge, immobiliser, a mass of wirings and sensors.
I am riding around on my old Triumph at the moment and honestly say I have no need of anything more hi-tech, in fact a pre-injected RV125 could be the next bike for me.

Sinnis reckon this is going to be competing with the VanVan, Dave.

The little 'zuki is one of my favourite ever bikes TBH. I know a couple of people local with them and they rate them as superb fun and supremely practical.

Ged
Nick (staib), Keith should remember him from the Ace Cafe days is a moderator on this site
http://suzukivanvan.forumandco.com/forum.htm
He is really enjoying his bike and company of some keen members that are getting out and green laning these robust bikes.

I now know the engine on my Yam is the same as in the 2010 XT250 Serow and I have this vision of making a Yam VanVan. I am looking around for a rolling chassis or a restoration project to get started.

Note the price £5600, lot of money me thinks.

Ged, The importer is Brighton based, they may be releasing a 400cc Stealth model soon. It could have the Suzuki based single engine.
The Stealth is already being sold as a 125 in uk, It has a stronger frame and twin front discs already, so the rolling chassis exists. Note the 22l tank.
Please keep us informed if you can, I may become a 'gofor' for my local Sinnis dealer, he has serviced my Burgman and soon the YBR for me, as I need to keep up the service book stamps.
The bikes are of good quality and those trading second hand on Ebay have given good service.

Certainly will, Dave. I've dropped by their place near the Viaduct in Brighton a couple of times now.

Friendly bunch and very informative. The bikes look great too.

I don't know about a 400 but 250 versions of the Apache supermoto, Stealth and the Trackstar are supposed to be appearing next year.

Now, a 250 Trackstar really appeals!

May I also take this opportunity to express my own liking for the VanVan, a most comfortable and 'fun' device that I nearly bought a year or so ago. I signed up to the VanVan website and it really is a most excellent forum.

Developments in the Sinnis camp:-

Our latest 250cc GT scooter has arrived for winter testing!

The GT is a 1st for Sinnis with a water cooled, fuel injected 250cc offering performance and torque not seen on a Sinnis machine before.

The GT has been designed in Milan and offers many innovative features with a striking lcd display and stunning LED lights front and back.

In terms of comfort the GT has a large, wide seat designed to take two touring with excellent handling thanks to it’s large 15″ alloy wheels and uprated suspension.

The GT will become a new model in 2011 so keep your eyes open for more to come!

I'll be keeping an eye on this one.

Anyway, the discussion regarding Sinnis's GT250 on Maxi Muppets prompted some more searching on the Trackstar and Sinnis's links with Suzuki.

The Trackstar uses what is essentially a Suzuki VanVan engine, leading one to think that they make 'em for Suzuki. But what about the other cycle parts? Is the Trackstar a Sinnis one-off?

Some answers may come in light of the following photo of the Japan only Suzuki 250 "Grasstracker"

That frame looks remarkably similar to the Sinnis Trackstar, as do the forks, front light, clocks, bars, rear mudguard, rear light and other parts too.

The point being? Well for your £1500 brand new you may well be getting more of a Suzuki than you imagine, which has to be a good thing, doesn't it? Very Happy

I have had my Vanvan for a couple of weeks now, already liking it a lot. I find it takes me down some very narrow tracks and even over marsh land (Cliffe Marshes), when the road runs out I keep going, search and rescue services may need to be deployed next time.
It was a new, pre reg k9 model in the colour of ruby red magenta, did the deal over the phone, p-exing the YBR250,

See what was done to me by the Vanvaners, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5wScx1COFzI

Nice one Dave!!!

If I was going for a VanVan I'd go for one of the later fuel injected ones too.
