STOLEN BIKE!! Empty
PostSubject: STOLEN BIKE!!   STOLEN BIKE!! EmptySat May 21, 2011 6:28 am

My Son James has had his bike stolen from outside his digs in Southampton last night.

It is a Blue Honda CB500S registration number X457OGP

It has odd mirrors at the moment, one chrome square one and one black round one, and the fairing has been repaired in a couple of places with blue epoxy.

We know that chances of getting it back are slim but if anyone does see it please contact me via here.

Thanks!

Man, would I like to catch one of these scrotes red-handed or what!!!! Twisted Evil

Thanks Keith.

James had a call late last night.

The bike has been found intact.

How much damage was caused by the thieves we don't know yet as the police have it at the moment for fingerprinting.

Thanks to everyone for reposting details via Facebook, Twitter, websites, masses of online forums and via their workplaces.

It seems to have made a difference and whoever stole it got cold feet and left it to be found.

CHEERS! Very Happy

Short of watching it round the clock, what can he do differently to prevent it happening again?

How to pee on someone's chips! Leaves me with a bad taste.

So glad he's got it back.

We're now getting the bie back by the weekend ass the police want to keep it in forensics till then.

We are working on the principle that even if damaged it has to be better than not getting it back at all.

He only has a coupe of weeks before he moves back home so till ten I think it's going to be disc locked and chained up whenever he isn't riding it.

The bike came home from Southampton in the back of my van.

It is in a bit of a sorry state but essentially in one piece.

- Both mirrors missing
- 2 indicators trashed
- clutch plates burnt out
- rear brake pads worn out Question
- petrol cap broken
- dents in tank
-both sidepanels broken off
- ignition wires ripped out
- main fuse blown
- a few more cracks and scrapes in the plastics than before

Grr, that's about the same as the Nighthawk thieves, try newly listed on ebay to find a 'private breaker' buy a part to get the contact no, and do a deal for everything you need, hopefully being a cb500 you should have some luck.

That is a sad sad story.

It happened to my friend's son. He had a brand new Kawasaki and had called in a cafe to have some lunch with friends, he looked out of the window only to find some scroats having shoved some poles through his wheels and was lifting the bike via the poles into a van. By the time he and his mates had got outside there was no sign of the bike or the van. This was in broad daylight on a reasonably busy road. The bike has not been seen since.

Incredible! In broad daylight too! Shocked

This was merely stolen by idiots who couldn't ride properly. It was subsequently re-lifted by one bloke who was pushing it away when he was seen by someone who recognised the bike from the hundreds of facebook and twitter reposts after it was stolen. A timely phone call plus some prompt police action following it up meant that it was recovered before it disappeared again.

Bizarrely the bloke actually put the bike on its mainstand instead of dropping it when he was alerted to the oncoming presence of the coppers. Laughing

Parts finding is not proving too much of a problem with just the sidepanels being the most elusive, surprisingly.

However in the last hour emails from 2 breakers have come in saying they've got a pair each so it's down to a haggle for those, now. Very Happy

It's a looking a bit better now we've put a few bits right and tidied it up a bit.
