I set off for the dealer's at 11:00 am and my sat nav froze in the
middle of the unfamiliar town. I found somewhere to pull off the road
and reset it and found that I was only a mile off course.
A quick tour of the bike and I set off for home 35 miles away. First
impressions are that you sit higher on the bike than my old Burgman but
nonetheless comfortable. Mirrors were not as bad as I thought they
would be. Different vibrations from the Burgman but I'll get used to
that.
I threaded my way through town and eventually hit the open road and
whoosh, wow the difference an extra 200cc and 17hp makes. It feels sure
footed and stable. At last I'm able to pass two three cars without
having to make an appointment - terrific.
Nearer home in semi rural Wiltshire and I pass a young female driver
who is adjusting her coiffure then come up behind a large tractor with
muck spreader behind. I notice that there is also guy on a "proper"
bike behind me. At a suitable spot I check mirrors, indicate and do a
lifesaver and open up the throttle whoosh - past the tractor and doing
around 70 mph. The biker isn't having any of that and blats past me as
I'm slowing down again and he disappears into the distance. I hope he
felt better for that.
Home again and give my wife a great big hug.
Fitted a permanent connection for my battery tender, fitted RAM Mount
on left hand brake master cylinder and a new home county badge on the screen. Tomorrow I'll fit my top box.
That's day one
